The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has raided the office of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) on allegations of irregularities in the recruitment of 4,000 employees.
An enforcement team, comprising the commission’s assistant directors Jasmine Akhter and Ranjit Kumar Karmakar, conducted the operation at DHSE's office on Abdul Gani Road on Sunday.
The team recorded the statement of Prof Shahedul Khabir Chowdhury, the convener of the recruitment committee, to verify the allegations.
As per the recruitment rules 1991, the recruitment committee got approval for the appointment through written and oral examination, but later it took the examinations in the MCQ system of 70 marks. The DSHE is also facing allegations of irregularities in the promotion of the employees.

During the raid, Prof Shahedul Khabir Chowdhury told the commission: "The responsibility of the DSHE is to provide appointments and the PSC's responsibility is to give promotion. We have nothing to do there."
However, the commission found the irregularities after reviewing the documents of the DSHE.
The enforcement team will soon submit a detailed report to the ACC.
On the same day, another ACC enforcement team led by Deputy Assistant Director Latif Hawlader conducted an operation in Sherpur District Jail to investigate the allegations of demanding bribes by the assistant inspector of prisons from the inmates, who already got bail.
At that time, the jail authorities said that the complainant had already received his money. But the payment was delayed since his two wives had been claimed the amount.
