Industrialist Mahmud Ali passes away

Industrialist Mahmud Ali Ratul, owner of Chittagong’s JMS Group, has passed away at the age of 60.

He breathed his last at the ICU of Evercare Hospital in Dhaka at 11pm on Thursday.

His namaz-e-janaza will be held at Jamiatul Falah Mosque in Chittagong after Friday, Ratul's personal assistant Ali Haider Jisan confirmed.

Ratul was the vice-president of Noakhali district Awami League. Earlier, he was the vice-president of Hatia Upazila Awami League.

After falling ill during his stay in Chittagong in the last week of March, Ratul was tested  Covid-19 positive on March 30. 

From then on, he was receiving treatment at his home as per the doctor's advice. 

He was admitted to Evercare Hospital in the capital last Friday after his condition deteriorated at home. On the same day, he was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.
