Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives Minister M Tajul Islam on Wednesday instructed all the city Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (Wasa) officials, including the Dhaka Wasa, to supply adequate water during Ramadan.
The minister gave the instruction while addressing a virtual view exchange meeting with the high officials of Wasa and the concerned minister from his official Mintoo Road residence in Dhaka.
“Wasa has to take necessary steps so that the people can get adequate drinking water during iftar and sehri in Ramadan. The water supply anyhow would have to be made trouble-free,” the minister said.
In the past, 60% water supply was not possible in other cities including the capital, now nearly 100% quality water is being supplied not only in the city but also across the country, the minister added.
Nowadays, there is no water crisis in the country as all the Wasa’s including Dhaka, Rajshahi has taken big water development projects considering the future demand for water across the country.
Special initiatives have already been taken by the Wasa during Ramadan and the Covid-19 pandemic, informed Wasa managing director to the minister during the meeting.
“People will not be deprived from the service provided by the Wasa,” said the minster lauding the initiatives taken by the Wasa.
