Agartala-Dhaka Maitree bus service yet to resume operation

Maitree bus service on Agartala-Dhaka route remained suspended for 18 days as the only bus of the service was damaged in an accident on Jessore-Benapole highway. On June 22, the Maitree bus hit the car of Benapole Port’s Deputy Director Aminul Islam on its way to Kolkata, leaving the car driver dead and two others injured. Bangladesh police arrested bus driver Biswajit Chakraborty soon after the accident. He was later bailed out by Tripura Road Transport Corporation (TRTC). TRTC Managing Director Keshab Kar said: “The damaged bus has been sent to Kolkata for repair. I hope the Maitree bus service would become operational soon after it gets repaired.”
