Biman Bangladesh Airlines has added two brand new Dash 8-400 aircraft to its fleet with the inauguration of Akash Tori and Shwetbalaka.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the two aircraft from Ganabhaban via videoconferencing on Sunday, reports Bangla Tribune.
She asked all concerned at Biman Bangladesh Airlines to take good care of all the aircraft in its fleet and provide better passenger services, UNB reported her as saying.
“Sixteen new aircraft have been procured with public money, and now there are 21 aircraft in Biman’s fleet. These should be kept safe alongside providing better services to passengers. I am asking you to give special attention to all this,” she said.

The two aircraft are the second and third of the three aircraft purchased as part of a G2G (government to government) deal between Bangladesh and Canada.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines plans to increase flight frequency on domestic and short-haul international routes by adding state-of-the-art Dash 8-400 aircraft to its fleet.
The first new Dash 8-400 aircraft was added to the fleet of Biman on November 24. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina named the aircraft Dhrubatara.
The 74-seater Dash 8-400 aircraft was built by De Havilland, a renowned Canadian aircraft manufacturer.
Dash 8-400s are equipped with eco-friendly and advanced facilities like HEPA filter technology, which completely purifies the air inside the aircraft by destroying bacteria, viruses, and other germs in just four minutes.
