Shurukkhatei Rokkha: An Impactful Initiative by the JAAGO Foundation & Urmi Group

JAAGO Foundation, in collaboration with Urmi Group, has launched  “Shurukkhatei Rokkha,” a Covid-19 vaccination awareness campaign. The campaign took place between the 21 to 28 February.

This initiative aims to bring the underprivileged community under the Government Covid-19 vaccination program by helping people register, supported by Volunteer for Bangladesh.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Urmi Group & JAAGO Foundation have been working on several campaigns that include providing food and masks to thousands of families in crisis.

Recently, the Bangladesh government launched a countrywide Covid-19 vaccination campaign. To make the vaccination program a success, the groups joined forces to allocate volunteers to help underprivileged people who are mostly inaccessible to technology, above 40 years of age.

Mizanur Rahman, a resident of Agargaon slum, was extremely grateful to the volunteers. "I could not register for the vaccination before. It only took a few minutes with their help", he said.

Ayesha Begum of Pirojpur district expressed her happiness, saying: "Neither I nor anyone in the family knew about the registration process for the vaccine. The volunteers have completed the process of registration so easily, I feel relieved now."

Korvi Rakshand, the founder and executive director of JAAGO Foundation, said: “Many people from the underprivileged community face challenges in signing up through the website, getting their cards printed, etc.”

“Taking these challenges into account, We have launched a campaign called "Shurokkhatei Rokkha", to help people get vaccinated in every district across the country. Our young volunteers are highly committed and eager to help,” he added.

Fahmida Mahfuz, director of Urmi Group, expressed: "We are delighted to be able to come forward with the help of the people of the country. We aim to make our government's vaccine program a success and deliver the Covid-19 vaccine to all who need our help. I hope our efforts will be fruitful."

In order to stay alert and ensure successful vaccination, the JAAGO Foundation, Urmi Group, and Volunteer for Bangladesh drew attention to this campaign to encourage disadvantaged people to get vaccinated in their fight against Covid-19.
