Two senior officials of Gazipur’s Kashimpur prison have lost their jobs for helping inmate Tushar Ahmed, general manager of scam-tainted Hall-Mark Group, to spend time with a woman in an unauthorized meeting.
The Home Ministry sacked Senior Superintendent Ratna Roy and Jailer Nur Mohammed Mridha and ordered the jail authorities to take departmental action against others involved in the incident.
The ministry forwarded its order to the Department of Prisons on Thursday, said Md Shahiduzzaman, senior secretary to the ministry's Security Services Division.
The move came following recommendations by the inquiry bodies formed by the prison authorities and the Gazipur district admission, according to officials.

Earlier, the authorities withdrew Ratna, Mridha, Deputy Jailer Golam Saqlain, Sergeant Instructor Md Abdul Bari and Assistant Chief Jail Guard Md Khalilur Rahman after a video of a woman visiting the Tushar went viral.

The incident reportedly took place on January 6, but it came to light after a news channel aired the CCTV footage.
The footage shows prisoner Tushar Ahmed roaming near the offices of the prison area just before a woman was seen entering the premises.
Security footage also showed Deputy Jailer Saqlain receiving the woman at the entrance and escorting her to his office. At one point, the prison official left his office only to return with Tushar around 10 minutes later.
Later on, Saqlain left his office leaving Tushar and the woman there for about 45 minutes. The jail authorities have prohibited visitors since the pandemic unfolded in Bangladesh.
Tushar is serving a jail sentence over a Tk 25 billion scam involving the Hall-Mark Group.
