Bangladeshi student dies in Australia car accident

A Bangladeshi student of Charles Darwin University (CDU) and his friend have been killed in a car crash near Australia's Litchfield National Park. Irfan Munna, and Risa Caramay, both in their 20s, were heading to the idyllic Folmer Falls to celebrate his birthday and the end of Ramadan with seven other CDU international students. Munna and Caramay's car, was leading the three-car convoy, crashed into a tree, split in two and burst in flames around 4pm, reports NT News. He is believed to have been driving up to 30km/h over the 80km/h speed limit. Other cars travelling with them also lost control and crashed into bushland. The heat from the engine sparked a bush fire that engulfed Munna's car. Passengers in the back seat managed to escape. Rescuers who rushed to the spot said it was a horrific scene. Two of the survivors were airlifted to hospital while five others were taken to Royal Darwin Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and shock. Munna went to CDU two years ago to study IT and engineering. Bangladesh Student Association Secretary Asiful Inam said Munna’s friends were distraught. He told NT News that the friends who were with Munna said he was still alive after the accident. They tried to pull him out but the seat belt was stuck and by that time engine was on fire.
