At least 25 people were killed on Monday in separate road accidents in 14 districts of the country.
In Habiganj, at least eight people were killed when a Sylhet-bound BRTA bus collided head-on with two CNG-run auto rickshaws on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway near Nabiganj area.
Confirming the incident, Sherpur Highway police outpost OC Md Ershadul Haque Bhuiyan said: “We are conducting a rescue operation. The number of deaths might increase.”
In Gazipur, at least three people were killed in separate road accidents on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway’s Dakkhin Salna area and Pubail’s Munshibari area, confirmed Gazipur Metropolitan Police sources.
In Munshiganj, two pedestrians were killed when a pick-up van lost control and crashed into them, confirmed Md Salah Uddin, in-charge of Bhaber Char police outpost.
The deceased are, Mohan Miah, 50, and Nurul Islam, 70.
In Bhola, two people were killed when a bus collided head-on with a CNG-run auto rickshaw on the Ilisha street, confirmed Bhola Sadar Model police station OC Enayet Hossain.
The deceased are, Mujahirul Islam Jashim, 55, and Joy Shikder, 30.

In Noakhali, a motorcyclist, Jamal Uddin, 65, was killed when his vehicle lost control and crashed into a tree beside the Nalchhira-Ochkhali road near Afachhia Bazar of Hatia upazila, confirmed Hatia police station OC Abul Khair.
In Comilla, a Chhatra League leader was killed after the three-wheeler he was riding collided head-on with a Comilla-bound truck near Monohorganj.
The deceased, Shah Jalal Sujon, 25, was a local organizational secretary of the ruling party.
In Kushtia, a motorcyclist named Sujan Hossain was killed when a truck collided head-on with his vehicle on the Daulatpur-Pragpur Regional Street, confirmed Daulatpur police station OC Jahurul Alam.
In Tangail, a three-wheeler driver, Sumon, was killed after a passenger bus collided head-on with the vehicle he was driving in Kalihati.
A Hanif Paribahan Bus crashed into the three-wheeler and killed its driver, said Bangabandhu Bridge (East) police station OC Kazi Ayubur Rahman.
In Barisal, a motorcyclist, Azizul Haque, 35, was killed when a three-wheeler collided head-on with the vehicle on the Dhaka-Barisal Highway, confirmed Gouranadi Highway police outpost SI Mujammel Haque.
In Chapainawabganj, a tractor driver, Nasir, was killed when his tractor got stuck in railway tracks while crossing Jadupur rail crossing.
At this time the commuter train from Ishwardi to Rahanpur hit the tractor and killed the man, confirmed Amnura Police outpost ASI Sohel Rana.
In Bogra, a fish vendor, Azizar Rahman, 40, was killed when the three-wheeler he was riding overturned in Nayapara area, confirmed Inspector Haridas Mandal of Shibganj police station.
In Dinajpur, a 4-year-old Farzana Akhter was crushed to death by a sand-laden truck on the road at Birganj’s Jharbari, confirmed Birganj police OC Abdul Matin.
In Narayanganj, a teenager, Emon Miah, was killed when an unidentified vehicle crushed him on the Chittagong road near Shimrail area, confirmed Siddhirganj Police OC Moshiur Rahman.
In Brahmanbaria, a health worker, Minara Begum, 35, was killed when a pick-up van hit-and-ran her in Bancharampur upazila, confirmed Bancharampur police Inspector Raju Ahmed.
