Journalist Shaban Mahmood has been made the press minister at the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi for two years.
Shaban Mahmood is currently working with daily Bangladesh Pratidin as a special correspondent.
The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification on his contractual appointment on Monday.
Senior journalist and former Bangladesh bureau chief of the Associated Press (AP) Farid Hossain, who is serving in the post, is likely to return home in December upon completion of his tenure.
Farid Hossain joined the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi as the press minister in September 2016.
