Taskforce meets Thursday to strengthen security for diplomats

The government is going to strengthen security for diplomats and foreign nationals living in Dhaka in the backdrop of twin terrorist attacks in the first week of July.
The National Taskforce will sit Thursday to discuss the issue, said sources.
A foreign ministry official said according to the Geneva Convention, it is the duty of the host government to ensure security for the diplomats and the government’s primary target is to ensure their safety and security.
The government is also taking steps to increase security for foreigners and the taskforce will discuss the issue in details to make the security system more concrete, he said.
Foreign minister is the head of the taskforce and foreign secretary is its member-secretary.
Security adviser to the prime minister, principal secretary, representatives of home ministry, National Security Intelligence and police are the members of the taskforce.
The official said the foreigners feel less secured due to lack of information and taskforce will attach special importance to it.
He said how information of an incident can be reached to the foreigners, what they will do during that period, will they move to more secured place and other information will be provided to them so that they have knowledge about uncertain situation.
