Musa Ibrahim stranded on Mount Carstensz

Musa Ibrahim, the first Bangladeshi to conquer Mount Everest, has become stranded on Carstensz Pyramid, the 4,884 meter mountain in the Sudirman Range of the western central highlands of Papua Province in Indonesia. State Minister for Foreign Affairs Mohammed Shahriar Alam posted the information on his Facebook account early Sunday. He wrote: “I had spoken to Musa Ibrahim through the satellite phone of one Indian mountaineer. They have been stranded there for the last four days. Food finished. Our embassy informed me that a helicopter is on the ready and it will start evacuation soon after the weather becomes normal. Hopefully, by this morning.” “ASEAN headquarters, our embassy and Indian Embassy are monitoring the incident. Keep them in your prayers,” he added in the post. In the satellite message Musa wrote: “Dear Shahriar bhai. Weather is good now. Hope to be evacuated now- Musa.” Musa became a celebrity overnight after conquering Mount Everest in 2010.
