Barrister Rafique-ul Haque on life support

Prominent lawyer and former attorney general Barrister Rafique-ul Haque has been kept on life support at the Ad-din Hospital in Dhaka.

The hospital’s Public Relations Officer Tabibur Rahman told BSS on Wednesday that Rafique, also the chairman of the Ad-din Foundation, was kept on life support in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) since Tuesday night after his condition deteriorated.

The hospital’s Director General Dr Nahid Yasmin said that Rafique was admitted there on October 15.

He has been suffering from various old-aged complications including anaemia, she added.

The veteran lawyer had served as the attorney general from April 7, 1990 to December 17 of the same year.

During the caretaker government’s regime in 2007-08, he had lent legal support to top ranking political leaders.
