A giant Baghair fish weighing around 120kg was put up for sale with an asking price of Tk1.5 lakh in Moulvibazar’s Kushumbagh area on Tuesday afternoon.
A huge number of curious people gathered to see the rare-breed fish and take a selfie with it.
Traders of the fish Mohsin Miah and Rajib Ahmed told the Dhaka Tribune that the fish had recently been caught in a river in Chittagong and later it was brought to Kishoreganj’s Bhairab Bazar for sale.
“We bought the fish from Bhairab bazaar and brought it here for business purpose,” the fish traders said.
They also said the highest offer they got till then was Tk 70,000 but they refused to sell the fish at that price.
“We won’t sell it below Tk 1 lakh,” the traders added.
Many customers had been urging the traders to cut the fish into pieces and sell it at a fixed per kg price.
They told the correspondent that they would cut it into pieces in case the expected price of the whole fish was not attained.
