Ecnec approves 11 projects worth over Tk3,723cr

The Executive Committee of National Economic Council (Ecnec) on Tuesday approved 11 new and revised projects worth over Tk3,723 crore.
The approval came at the Ecnec meeting held on Tuesday in the NEC conference room at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair.
Of the total cost, Tk3,603.67 crore will come from public fund and Tk96.89 crore as project assistance.
Among the projects that got the go-ahead includes establishment of Faridpur and Sylhet Textile Institutes costing Tk97.66 crore and Tk95.66 crore respectively, Bond Management Automation Tk81.15 crore and IT Business Incubator at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology Tk76.91 crore.
Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal revealed the information at a press briefing after the meeting.
The minister added that the Education Ministry will develop the government post-graduate colleges located in district headquarters to improve educational standard.
The project expenditure will go around Tk1,690.45 crore and be completed within 2019.
As part of the project, Tk251.03 crore will be spent on the renovation of Khulna district jail where hospitals, administrative buildings and barracks for male and female prisoners will be erected on a 33.31-acre of land.
Besides, Dhaka Wasa will carry out an interim water supply project each in the capital and Narayanganj city spending Tk612 crore while Tk160.12 crore and Tk521.36 crore have been allocated for procurement of equipment for solid waste management and upgradation of important regional highways, i.e. Barisal region, with appropriate standard and width.
Finally, Tk78.43 crore has been approved for land development and building boundary wall for Power Development Board’s own area in Keraniganj.
