Jamuna Group chairman Nurul Islam Babul was laid to rest with state honour in the capital’s Banani graveyard on Tuesday.
Babul, also a freedom fighter, was buried around 2:30pm, Mizan Malik, special correspondent of Daily Jugantor told UNB.
His namaz-e-janaza was held at 1:30 pm at Jamuna Future Park Mosque after Zohr prayer, he said.
Nurul Islam Babul breathed his last at 4pm on Monday at the age of 74 while undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital (former Apollo Hospital) with Covid-19 infection.
He is left behind by a son, three daughters, and a host of relatives, and well-wishers to mourn his death.
His wife, Salma Isla, MP, is a former state minister for the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs. His only son, Shamim Islam, is now the managing director of the Jamuna Group. And, his three daughters – Rozalin Islam, Manika Islam, and Soniya Islam – are also directors of the group.

A 10-member medical board led by retired Brig Gen Mahbub was formed for his treatment, reports BSS.
Apart from that, four specialist Chinese physicians and two specialist doctors from Singapore's Mount Elizabeth Hospital also gave consultation for his treatment through teleconference.
Babul who was born in Noakhali in 1946, founded Jamuna group in 1974 and established 41 organizations in industries and service sectors.
The Jamuna Group is producing textile, chemicals, leather, motorcycles, electronics, beverages and toiletries.
Nurul Islam Babul is also founder of the Jamuna Future Park, the Marriott Hotel which is under construction, and two noted media houses – Daily Jugantor and Jamuna Television.
Babul breathed his last at Evercare Hospital on Monday at the age of 74.
