Faruk Quazi, a veteran journalist and former chief of correspondents at the United News of Bangladesh (UNB), has passed away at his residence in Dhaka.
He was 71.
Faruk, a former deputy press secretary of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, breathed his last in his sleep around 8am on Friday at his Elephant Road residence, his daughter Arshi Quazi confirmed, reports UNB.
Former president of Law Reporters' Forum (LRF), Faruk left behind wife, one daughter, and a host of relatives to mourn his death.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock at the death of the senior journalist.
She prayed for eternal salvation of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family.
Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain and Law Minister Anisul Huq also expressed deep condolence and shock at the demise of Faruk Quazi.
