So far, 1,096 Bangladeshi nationals have left Dhaka on a special flight for Italy.
A total of 281 Bangladeshi nationals have left Dhaka for Italy on a special flight amid flight restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic.
A special flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the passengers left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) for Rome, capital of Italy, around 12:20pm on Saturday.
Tahera Khondoker, deputy general manager (public relations) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
Earlier on June 23, 269 Bangladeshi nationals left Dhaka for Italy by a special flight of the same airways.
“All Bangladeshis residing in Italy have now been sent back there and they will soon join their respective jobs,” Biman spokesperson said.
So far, a total of 1,096 Bangladeshi nationals have left Dhaka for Italy on special flights from June 12 to June 27.
Some of them were left stranded in Bangladesh due to the coronavirus pandemic and some were sent back home to Bangladesh in March, when Italy recorded the highest number of coronavirus cases in Europe.
