CHT Affairs Minister Ushwe Sing moved to Dhaka CMH for Covid-19 treatment

Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Minister Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing has been shifted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka for advanced medical treatment after testing positive for Covid-19.

ISPR Director Lt Col Abdullah Ibne Jayed told Dhaka Tribune the minister was brought to CMH from Bandarban by a Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) helicopter.

The helicopter started from Bandarban around 11:10am on Sunday. It landed with the minister, his son Robin Bahadur and others at BAF Base Bashar in Dhaka around 12:50pm.

From there, Ushwe Sing was taken to CMH.

Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing | CollectedOn Saturday, Cox's Bazar Medical College Principal Dr Anupom Barua had confirmed that the CHT Affairs minister tested positive for Covid-19.

Bandarban Civil Surgeon Dr Aung Swi Prue Marma at the time had told Dhaka Tribune that Ushwe Sing was doing well.

He also said that the minister's bodyguard and personal secretary were also sent to isolation.

The minister might have contracted the virus as he had attended several programs during the Eid-ul-Fitr and came to contact with mass people while distributing reliefs and other things, added the civil surgeon.

Last Monday, former health minister Mohammad Nasim had tested positive for Covid-19 shortly after he was admitted to a private hospital in the capital.

Until Saturday, Bangladesh confirmed 63,026 Covid-19 cases and 846 deaths.

The deadly novel coronavirus has killed so far nearly 400,000 people across the world since December last year.
