Former minister Nasim in critical condition

Senior Awami League leader and former health minister Mohammed Nasim’s condition is critical now, said his son Tanvir Shakil Joy.

Tanvir informed this to journalists on Saturday and requested everyone to pray for his father.

The former health minister is kept on ventilation in an intensive care unit (ICU) of Bangladesh Specialized Hospital in Dhaka. The doctors will take the next decision after 72 hours, said Tanvir to Somoy TV.

On Friday, Nasim suffered a stroke and had to immediately undergo a surgery, which was successful according to doctors.

After the surgery, the doctors said Nasim has to be kept under close observation for 48 hours.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina spoke to Tanvir over the phone and has been keeping track of them all the time, said Awami League Office Secretary Biplob Barua on Friday.

Nasim, a presidium member of the ruling party, was admitted to Bangladesh Specialized Hospital on June 1, after he tested positive for Covid-19.
