Digital relief transfer system Proshar launched

A new web-based end-to-end relief transfer system has been launched to help households affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and Cyclone Amphan with fast delivery of relief materials.

Proshar.org, a joint initiative by Innovision Consulting Private Limited and WebAble Impact - Social & Behavior Change Communications, was launched on Friday through an online event.

Using the platform, donors can select a beneficiary and make a transfer. The donation will then allow the beneficiary to purchase essentials for their families from the local grocery store or micro merchant almost immediately.

“Your relief reaches the households in real-time and the food can reach their home within an hour,” said the company in a Facebook post following the inauguration.

The company also claimed that the donations also help the rural economy where such transactions enable micro merchants to earn a living.

According to their website, the platform aims to accelerate funds and food distribution, reduce relief distribution cost for partner organizations, circulate money in the local economy, enhance transparency in the value chain, reduce overlaps in distribution, promote flexibility of choice (households can choose which food items to purchase), increase depth of support (offer longer period support strategically), and offer an effective exit strategy (rehabilitate local merchants to recover and grow).
