33,800 new teachers, employees on MPO list to get salaries before Eid

Around 33,800 teachers and employees of educational institutions newly listed on the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) scheme are set to receive their salaries before Eid.

An application regarding the new teachers on the MPO list has already been submitted to the Education Ministry.

The MPO registration of the teachers and staff will be finalized through a virtual meeting on Saturday at 11am, Secondary and Higher Education Directorate Director General Syed Golam Faruk has said.

An order on the MPO registration was issued on Thursday.

According to the order,  teachers and employees added to the MPO list will be given salaries after the MPO list has been finalized. The meeting will be held via videoconference due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

DG Prof Syed Golam Faruk will preside over the meeting. All regional directors and deputy directors of NTRCA, the Bangladesh Bureau of Educational Information and Statistics, and Board of Education officials will be present.

On October 24, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced the MPO registration of 2,730 private educational institutions across the country.

Last month, the Ministry of Education issued the final gazette for MPO registration of 2,615 educational institutions after scrutinizing documents of the institutions.

Among the institutions, 1,633 schools and colleges were registered under the MPO facility. The Technical and Madrasa Education Department has registered 982 institutions.

Through the new MPO registration, about 33,800 teachers and employees are going to get salaries and allowances. However, many of them could not apply in the first phase as they were given a very short time to apply for the MPO.

For those who have applied after the stipulated time or those who will apply later, a special meeting will be called after Eid to finalize the MPO registration.
