Ahsanullah Master’s 16th death anniversary Thursday

The 16th death anniversary of veteran freedom fighter, Awami League leader and teacher Ahsanullah Master will be observed on Thursday. 

Ahsanullah Master was a central leader of Bangladesh Awami League and a member of parliament from Gazipur 2 constituency. 

Criminals shot him dead at a rally at MA Mazid Miah High School ground in Tongi on May 7, 2004. 

On this occasion, floral wreaths will be placed at his grave at his village home in Haidrabad, in Gazipur, on behalf of his family members. 

The day's programs include Quran recitation, wearing black badge, milad and special prayers, food distribution and arrangement of iftar. 

Shaheed Ahsanullah Master Foundation and Shaheed Ahsanullah Master MP Smriti Parishad distributed food items among the poor in Gazipur on Tuesday and Wednesday, to mark the occasion. 

On behalf of Shaheed Ahsanullah Master Foundation, Ahsanullah Master's elder son and chief patron of the Shaheed Ahsanullah Master MP Smriti Parishad, State Minister for Youth and Sports Md Jahid Ahsan Rasel, distributed food items among 10,000 families, including labourers, at various places in Pubail, Tongi and Gazipur, a PID handout said. 

Ahsanullah Master was elected MP from Gazipur 2 (Gazipur Sadar-Tongi) constituency twice in 1996 and 2001, and served as the chairman of Gazipur Sadar upazila and Pubail Union Parishad.
