Grameen Communications has taken an initiative to provide relief goods to 1,500 people, located across several districts, for three months, in an effort to counteract the impact of the coronavirus crisis on the underprivileged.
They have already distributed relief goods among 122 people, coming from 40 families, across several districts, said a press release.
During the current week, relief goods consisting of rice, potatoes, pulse, salt, and oil, will be distributed among 300 people, belonging to 60 families, across 12 upazilas.
Earlier, the government announced a general holiday to prevent the spread of coronavirus, shutting down mass transport and all non-essential services, and urging people to stay indoors.
Daily workers were hit particularly hard by the move as their source of income had all but vanished.
Coronavirus has so far infected 803 people and killed 39 people in Bangladesh.
Globally, the virus has infected 1,858,789 people and killed 114,698 people thus far.
