‘Pay industrial workers within April 16, or face legal action’

Labour and Employment State Minister Begum Monnujan Sufian has directed all industry owners to pay the salary for the month of March to their workers within April 16.

The state minister gave this directive on Monday, reports UNB.

“Legal action will be taken against any owner who fails to follow the directive,” Monnujan said in her statement.

The government declared general holidays to curb the spread of coronavirus, bringing economic activities to almost a halt.

Monnujan urged the workers to stay inside their homes and follow the government’s directive on social distancing. 

Bangladesh, on Sunday, recorded the highest number of Covid-19 cases in a 24 hour time frame as 139 more people tested positive for the virus, raising the total number of infected to 621.

Moreover, four more infected people died during this period, taking the country’s death toll to 34, while the global death toll from coronavirus infection surpassed 114,000 on Monday morning.
