The East Zone of Bangladesh Railway (BR) has evicted over 400 unauthorized shops and dwellings built on railway land in the Chittagong Port Railway Yard (CGPY) area.
The operation helped recover about two acres of land, reported BSS.
The drive took place on Wednesday.
Mahbubul Karim, a divisional state officer at the East Zone, said: “Following the directive of the railway authority, we have evicted over 400 semi-permanent shops and houses from the Hakim Saudagar colony of the railway yard area under Bandar police station.
“We recovered about two acres of land worth Tk60 crore through the drive.”
The drive will continue to recover the rest of railway land in the port city, he added.
