Committee to review govt employees' pay scale formed

The government has formed a committee, comprising nine members, to review the existing pay scale of 2.1 million civil servants to fix their future salaries and allowances . The Cabinet Division issued a circular on Monday declaring the committee headed by cabinet secretary (coordination and reforms). The rest members of the committee are the representatives of Prime Minister's Office, Public Administration Division, Planning Division, Commerce Ministry, Statistics Division, Bangladesh Bank and attorney general's office. Representatives of Finance Division will handle the secretarial role of the committee, which is asked to submit a report after 90 days, according to the circular. The committee will recommend on how to adjust the the salaries, allowances and living cost of the government employees. It will also work to adjust the inflation rate corresponding with the new pay scale.
