Dhaka Metropolitan Police counter-terrorism chief took a veiled swipe at sceptics who have questions regarding the authenticity of police’s version of Kallyanpur anti-militancy operation, which led to the killing of nine militants and capture of one.
In a Facebook post Wednesday, Monirul Islam himself took the liberty of picking up several questions, circulating around in social media since the news of the operation broke early Tuesday, and tried to dismantle them systematically, in an effort to debunk all the ongoing alternative theories.
“Questions like ‘How could you label them as militants without knowing their name and address?’ ‘Why did they go to bed wearing a certain type of panjabi and sneakers?’ ‘How is it possible to fire continuously from four pistols?’ ‘Why they (militants) were not caught alive?’ would not been raised if the questioner is aware of the history of such anti-militancy operations, he said.

“The entire social media is talking about the neighbours’ accounts that the tenants (militants) in that flat had chanted slogans in favour of so-called jihad, so-called IS flag was found in their room with huge collection of books on extremism. After all these, is there any research necessary to comprehend whether they were militants?” Monirul raised question.
The anti-militancy unit chief said one does not have to be an intellectual to understand whether the militants had time to sleep, wear such dress in between around 1:00am and 5:50am, between the first encounter and the final.
