Anwar Choudhury’s relatives happy with justice being served

Relatives of former British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Anwar Choudhury here in Bangladesh and the residents of Sunamganj’s Jagannathpur upazila have expressed their satisfaction regarding the fitting justice in regards to the attack on the British envoy. The mastermind of the attack carried out at Shahjalal Shrine in Sylhet on May 21, 2004, Harkat-ul Jihad al-Islami Bangladesh (HujiB) leader Mufti Hannan, and his two close aides Sharif Shahedul Alam Bipul and Delwar Hossain alias Ripon, were hanged to death around 10pm at Kashimpur and Sylhet prison on Wednesday. Anwar Choudhury’s cousin and resident of Jagannathpur’s Patli union Shah Rumi Choudhury said: "Anwar introduced Bangladesh to the world in a more positive way and such a notorious attack on him had jeopardised the image of our country to a serious extent." Rumi also urged the government to be vigilant against all sorts of militant activities across the country.
