Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind are likely to occur at several places across the country on the day of Eid-ul-Azha, the second biggest religious festival of the Muslims.
Moderately heavy rainfall is likely to occur at many places over Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong divisions, at a few places over Dhaka and Syhlet divisions, and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshshi and Mymensingh divisions in the next 24 hours till 6pm on Monday.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through Gujarat, Rajsthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh, said a Met Office bulletin.
One of its associated troughs extends up to north Bay of Bengal and a low pressure area is likely to form over the northwest Bay and adjoining areas until 6pm on Monday.
A mild heat wave is sweeping over Mymensingh and Syhlet divisions and the regions of Tangail, Faridpur, Bogura, Pabna, Rangpur, Dinajpur, Sayedpur, Tetulia, Sathkhira, Jashore and Chuadanga, and it may continue at some other places.
Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, said the Met Office.
The country’s highest temperature, 37.2 degree Celsius, was recorded on Sunday in Mymensingh and the lowest, 25 degrees, in Rangamati.
