Fire at BDBL building in Motijheel

Fire has ravaged a floor of the Bangladesh Development Bank Limited (BDBL) building in Dhaka’s commercial hub Motijheel.
“An electric short circuit sparked the fire on the 20th floor of the 24-storey building around 6:20am on Monday,” Fire Service control room Duty Officer Mizanur Rahman told the Dhaka Tribune.
Seven firefighting units extinguished the blaze around 6:50am, he said.
“We assume that the fire has caused a damage of about Tk10 lakh,” Mizanur added.
Wishing anonymity, an official of Investments Corporation of Bangladesh (ICB) told the Dhaka Tribune: “We moved to this office after International Finance Investment and Commerce Bank Limited shifted from here in January.
“Some unused goods and papers were burned in the fire that broke out in the storeroom.”
He said a security guard who was injured that fire has been taken to a local hospital.
