The United States has instructed its citizens currently residing in Bangladesh to stay vigilant.
The US Embassy in Dhaka on Friday recommended all its nationals to review their personal security plans and remain aware of their surroundings, including local events.
It also asked the citizens to monitor local news stations for updates.
"Be vigilant and take appropriate steps to enhance your personal security," the US embassy in Dhaka said on its website after a suicide attack was carried out on a police check post at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport intersection in Dhaka.

Meanwhile, the United Kingdom has updated a foreign travel advice in Bangladesh where it informed UK citizens residing in Bangladesh about the attack that was held close to the Dhaka airport on Friday.
"The local authorities advise that the incident has been resolved and the airport is operating as normal," the advice posted on the UK government website www.gov.uk said.
It was not a suicide attack; rather, the bomb exploded while the attacker was carrying it, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia.
However, a few hours after the blast, international terrorist group Islamic State issued a statement via its Amaq news agency, in both Arabic and Bangla, claiming responsibility for the attack.
