Eleven people have been killed in separate incidents of “gunfights” in nine districts.
The incidents took place early Tuesday.
In Cumilla, two suspected drug traders were killed in a “gunfight” with law enforcers in Bibir Bazar Aronnopur area around 12:45am.
Sharif and Piyar were listed drug traders.
Police said acting on a tip-off, two teams of detectives and police took position in the area to arrest the drug traders.
Sensing their presence, the drug traders opened fire targeting at the law enforcers.
In retaliation, the law enforcers fired back that triggered a “gunfight.”
Kotwali model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Abu Salam Mia said the two drug traders and five police officials were injured in the incident.
Later, Sharif and Piyar were declared dead when taken to Comilla Medical College Hospital.
He said Sharif was accused in five cases filed for drug trade while Piyar was accused in 13 such cases.
Two rounds of bullets, a revolver, 50kg cannabis, 500 bottles of phensedyl, and a Pajero jeep was seized in the drive.
In Netrokona, a suspected drug peddler named Amzad was killed in a reported gunfight with police around 2:30am.
The incident took place when police was conducting a special drive in the area.
Five police officials, who were injured in the incident, have been admitted to Netrokona Modern Sadar Hospital.
Netrokona model police station OC Borhan Uddin said: “Amzad was a contract killer and a drug trader. He was accused in 13 cases.”

In Chuadanga, a 45-year-old drug trader was killed in a “gunfight” with police around 2am.
Kamruzzaman Shadhu was a convicted criminal and accused in a dozen cases.
Alamdanga police station OC Lutful Kabir said: “A group of six to seven smugglers opened fire at a patrolling team of police. Drug trader Kamruzzaman was among them”
In retaliation, police fired back leaving Kamruzzaman dead, while the others managed to flee the scene.
Four police officials were also injured in the incident. They were admitted to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital.
Meanwhile, police recovered a pistol, two rounds of bullets, and a sack full of phensedyl bottles from the spot.
In Nilphamari, two drug traders, Jony, 35, and Shahin, 32, were killed by police in Golahat Boddhobhomi area under Saidpur upazila around 2:30am.
Saidpur Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune.
He said: “We had detained Jony and Shahin before. During interrogation, they told us about a consignment of drugs.
“We conducted a drive in the area along with them to seize the consignment.”
“Their associates opened fire at us and exploded improvised bombs when we went to the spot,” he added.
In retaliation, police fired back, killing the duo, while their associates managed to flee the scene.
Four police officials were also injured in the incident. They are being treated at a local hospital.
Additional Superintendent of Police Ashok said they recovered some yaba tablets and improvised bombs from the spot.
In Chattogram, listed drug trader Shukkur Ali, 45, was killed in a reported gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Debarpara area under around 2:30am.
Assistant superintendent of Police Mimtanur Rahman of RAB 7 said acting on a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a drive in the area, reports UNB.
Sensing presence of RAB, a gang of drug traders opened fire on them, prompting them to retaliate, triggering the gun battle, which left Shukkur dead on the spot.
Shukkur was accused in 10 cases.
The team also recovered 10,000 yaba tablets, a shotgun, and a large amount of hemp from the spot.

In Dinajpur, notorious drug trader Probal Hossain was killed in a reported gunfight with police in Bhabanipur area under Birampur upazila around 2:30am.
Abdus Sabur, officer-in-charge of Birampur police station, said they recovered 92 bottles of phensidyl, and a revolver, along with three bullet rounds from the spot.
Two policemen were also injured in the gunfight, he added.
In Brahmanbaria, 28-year-old suspected drug trader Dhanmia alias Shobuj was killed in a “gunfight” with police in Bancharampur around 3am.
RAB 10 Dhaka’s Jatrabari Camp Additional Superintendent of Police Md Mohiuddin Faruki said confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune.
Meanwhile, 12,000 pieces of yaba tablets, a foreign-made pistol, and six rounds of bullets, Tk48,000, and a private car was seized from the spot.
He said Dhanmia’s wife has also been detained.
In Narayanganj, a suspected drug trader named Bachchu Mia was killed in a reported gunfight with RAB 1 in Shimultoli area under Araihazar upazila in the early hours of the day.
Araihazar police station OC MA Hoque said: “The incident took place when we conducted a drive in the area along with detainee Bachchu to recover drugs.
“His associates opened fire at us when we reached the area.”
In retaliation, the elite force fired. Bachchu was injured, and his associates fled the scene.
The OC said he was declared dead when taken to Araihazar Hospital.
A RAB member was also injured in the incident.
The elite force also recovered 10,000 yaba tablets, a foreign-made pistol, and a car.
In Feni, a suspected dealer of Chattogram named Monzurul Alam Monju, 46, was killed in a reported gunfight with RAB in Lemua.
RAB 7 Feni Camp Captain Safayet Jamil Fahim said: “We got information that drug dealers were going to Dhaka from Chattogram. Based on the information, we set up a checkpost at Lemua area.”
The drug dealers opened fire at the elite force members when they tried to stop the microbus that was carrying the drugs, reports the Bangla Tribune.
In retaliation, RAB members fired back, and it left Monju injured, while the others managed to flee the scene.
Later, he was declared dead when taken to Feni Sadar Hospital.
RAB also recovered 10,000 yaba tablets, one firearm, seven rounds of bullets, and five bullet shells from the spot.
Monju was detained earlier with 500,000 pieces of yaba tablets.
