Bangladeshi elopes with Uttar Pradesh minister’s sister

A Bangladesh national has reportedly eloped with a sister of SP Singh Baghel, a minister in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The minister’s family alleged that the man – Sampad Adhikari, a resident of Narail in Bangladesh – duped the 16-year old girl into a love affair and got away from Uttar Pradesh around 12 days ago, according to a report published in the Indian daily Sangbad Pratidin, published on Thursday. The duo traveled from Uttar Pradesh to Barasat in West Bengal. Afterwards, they could not be tracked down, they added. Meanwhile, the girl’s family put up posters all over Uttar Pradesh, soliciting information about her whereabouts and seeking help with tracing her. Borders forces of the two neighbouring countries beefed up vigil in the bordering areas to trace the duo. Family sources said Sampad settled in Barasat several years ago. Later, he rented out his house in Barasat and moved to his sister’s family in Uttar Pradesh. Sampad, a quack by profession, used to work at his brother-in-law’s dispensary, where he met with the minister’s sister on a regular basis. “We have collected information about Sampad, who introduced himself to us as being a rich man and claimed he had sizeable wealth in Bangladesh, where his parents and wife Eti Sampad are living,” Baghel’s brother Neeraj Singh was quoted by the Sangbad Pratidin as saying.
