US condoles deaths of BD peacekeepers in Mali blast

The United States has extended condolences to the families of the four Bangladeshi UN peacekeepers killed in Mali on Wednesday. The US Embassy in Dhaka in a Facebook post wished those injured a quick recovery. "We stand with the Bangladesh peacekeepers in our efforts to bring peace to conflict around the world," the message reads.

The US applauded the courage and determination displayed by the people of Bangladesh in bringing protection to vulnerable communities throughout the world. On Thursday, a press release issued by Bangladesh’s Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) Directorate in Dhaka identitified the deceased as Bangladesh Army’s Warrant Officer Abul Kalam of Pirojpur, Lance Corporal Akhter of Mymensingh, and troopers Raihan of Pabna and Jamal of Chapainawabganj. The four injured soldiers as Corporal Rasel of Naogaon, troopers Akram of Rajbari, Newton of Jessore and Rashed of Kurigram.
