BDRCS organized Partnership Meeting starts in Cox’s Bazar Tuesday

The three-day “Partnership Meeting 2018” of the “Red Cross Red Crescent Movement Response to Population Influx in Bangladesh’ will begin on Tuesday at the Royal Tulip Sea Pearl Beach Resort at Inani, Cox’s Bazar. Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) is organizing the meeting where Red Cross Red Crescent national society’s representatives from 22 countries will participate, according to a press release issued on Monday. Along with them, Bangladesh government officials, representatives from International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), and international organizations working in Cox’s Bazar will also join the international event. BDRCS Chairman Hafiz Ahmed Mazumder is scheduled to preside over the inaugural ceremony Tuesday, while Secretary General Md Feroz Salah Uddin will deliver the welcome speech. BDRCS Vice Chairman and IFRC Governing Board Member Md Habibe Millat, Cox’s Bazar Zila Parishad Chairman Mostak Ahmed Chowdhury, ICRC Head of Delegation in Bangladesh Ikhtiyar Aslanov, IFRC Asia Pacific Regional Office Director Xavier Castellanos, and representatives from the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief and Ministry of Foreign Affairs will also attend the program. On Tuesday, participants will visit the Red Cross Red Crescent field hospitals and activities being overseen by BDRCS and its Movement partners for the Rohingya refugees living in different camps in Cox’s Bazar. The working session of the meeting is also scheduled to be held on Wednesday and Thursday. The closing ceremony and a press conference on the meeting will also take place Thursday at the same venue.
