NGO director glad to be Bangladeshi

British citizen Patricia Ann Vivienne Kerr declared her Bangladeshi citizenship by singing the national anthem and waving her national ID card. Patricia is the overseas director of Shishu Palli Plus, an NGO that works to educate orphaned and distraught children, and develop the living standards of mothers living below the poverty line in Bangladesh. Although she had received the citizenship back in June, it was not until Monday afternoon that she proudly proclaimed herself as a Bangladeshi. She followed it up by singing the national anthem and flashing her national ID. Patricia had set up Shishu Palli Plus in 1989 in the village of Tengra in Gazipur to help children. Gradually the NGO’s activities expanded to help women as well. Since 2014, Shishu Palli Plus has been providing women with legal support. To acknowledge and honour Patricia’s contributions to Bangladesh, Telihati union parishad organised an event on Monday, where she revealed her official bond to the country. Patricia expressed her gratitude and honour in being bestowed the citizenship of Bangladesh. Prominent locals attended the event to commend Patricia for her activities.
