BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has paid tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War by placing a wreath at the National Memorial to mark the 46th Victory Day.
After placing the wreath, Mirza Fakhrul told journalists that the government was not appreciating the opinions of the real freedom fighters.
“People do not have any rights to vote now. The democracy we fought for is yet to be achieved.”
The senior BNP leader also vowed to establish democracy in the near future.
Afterwards, Khaleda Zia observed a minute of silence at the grave of her late husband and former president Ziaur Rahman, who declared the independence of Bangladesh on behalf of Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on March 27, 1971.
Ziaur was assassinated in office on May 30, 1981.
