Meanwhile, doctors found no injury mark on Shakil’s body. Viscera samples were collected for further tests to determine the cause of the 47-year-old’s death.
A three-member team, led by Dr Shohel Mahmud, performed the autopsy at the Dhaka Medical College earlier in the morning.
Dr Sohel said: “We did not find any sign of injury on Shakil’s body. The viscera report would make clear what caused his death.”
Shakil died at a Japanese restaurant in Dhaka’s Gulshan on Tuesday.
His body was taken to the Dhaka University campus, where he studied social science, for namaz-e-janaza around 11am. Many Awami League leaders and activists were present there.
Shakil's body was taken to his home in Mymensingh’s Baghmara. His family members broke into tears and created heartbreaking scene there.
Around 4:00pm, the body was taken to Town Hall for floral tributes.
After Maghrib prayer, his body was taken to Anjuman Eidgah ground for namaz-e-janaza.
Shakil was laid to rest beside his grandmother's grave at Bhatikashor Municipal Graveyard around 6:40pm.
The former Bangladesh Chhatra League leader had previously served as the prime minister’s deputy press secretary.
