Chumki: Men should resist violence against women

She made the comment while addressing 16-day long campaign programme at the Central Shaheed Minar on Wednesday.
The minister said: “Men need to play an active role against violence. If men become sensitive and aware of it and do not perpetuate violence, then 90 percent of incidents would be reduced.”
She urges all to fight against violence in this month of victory and to build a safer society for women adding: “Let’s fight together against violence in every family and house.”
The ministry and BRAC jointly organised the 16 days long campaign across the country. The campaign includes gathering of government and non-government organisations and civil society members. At the end of the event a cycle rally of 100 cyclists took place.
Nasima Begum, NDC, secretary of Women and Children Affairs ministry, Momtaz Begum, chairperson of Jatiya Mahila Sangstha, Maleka Banu, secretary general of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad were present in the programme.
However, this nationwide observed campaign started on November 25 and according to the schedule it would end on December 10.
