Flying and landing of all flights in Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport were suspended for two hours on Sunday, as the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took part in a programme near the airport.
All activities of the airport came to a halt from 10:00am to 11:20am and for one hour from 11:45am, causing a delay in the flights’ schedules.
Director of the airport Kazi Iqbal Karim confirmed it.
“According to the rules, if any VVIP stays within one kilometre of the airport, the airport remains closed as long as the person is there. Today the premier was attending a programme of Bangladesh Air Force near the airport and we were informed of the PM’s schedule by the Special Security Force,” said the director.
“Some flights could not fly as per the previous schedules, as a little bit change was made in the schedules today morning,” he added.
