“Live From Dhaka”, the debut feature film by young filmmaker Abdullah Mohammad Saad, has been awarded in both the Best Director and Best Performance categories in the Silver Screen Award of the Asian Feature Film Competition at the 27th Singapore International Film Festival, reports Variety.com, an American weekly entertainment magazine.
The Nepalese drama “White Sun” was selected to be the top Asian feature film in the event.
The awards were presented at a red carpet gala on Saturday evening at the Mastercard Theatre, which is part of Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands complex.
Veteran Chinese actress Huang Lu, Indian actress Seema Biswas, and Taiwanese singer-actress Yu Tai-Yan were on the red carpet in this episode of SGIFF.
The 94-minute-run micro-budget film is produced by Khelna Chobi and stars Mostafa Monwar as the lead, Tanvir Ahmed Chowdhury, Mir Mosharrof Hossen and Shimul Joy.
Saad began his journey as a director of short films and subsequently directed a couple of television commercials.
