Sawgat Gewali, 26, a student of North East Medical College, has been missing from his dormitory since November 9, reports UNB.
According to college sources, Saugat used to live in a hostel on the college premises. Hostel authorities found his room locked since November 9.
On November 16, Abdul Ahad, the college security in-charge, filed a general diary with South Surma police station regarding Saugat's disappearance.
Citing Dhaka Airport police, South Surma Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mostafizur Rahman said Sawgat had apparently left Bangladesh for Kolkata on an Air India flight on November 9.
ACP Mostafizul said: “On November 21, the immigration police gave us documents that prove Saugat's departure. We have not been able to reach him in Kolkata either.”
The hostel supervisor, Prof Nazmul Islam acknowledged the disappearance and the case that was filed.
Another Nepali student at the college - Bishal Shawrma - said he had spoken to Sawgat's father who had informed him that the family was unaware of Sawgat's whereabouts as well.
