The High Court has ordered Unilever Bangladesh to stop Lux advertisements offering gold lockets to consumers for buying the product.
An HC bench of Justice Moinul Hossain Chowdhury and Md Ashraful Kamal gave the order on Tuesday afternoon in response to a writ petition.
Supreme Court lawyer Abul Matin filed the petition on Sunday.
The court also issued a rule asking why steps should not be taken against Unilever Bangladesh under Section 294 (b) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) for the advertisement.
Unilever Bangladesh, secretaries of home and commerce ministries, IGP and DMP commissioner were asked to give explanations regarding the matter within four weeks.
