The man, identified as Masoom, was living in India since 2010 and was sentenced to death in 2013 in Bangladesh in a kidnapping-cum-murder case
A 40-year-old man, who was sentenced to death in Bangladesh for murder, was arrested from India with a loaded pistol on Saturday, Indian media reported.
The man, identified as Masoom, was living in India since 2010 and was sentenced to death in 2013 in Bangladesh in a kidnapping-cum-murder case, according to the Delhi police.
"Reportedly, he is carrying a reward of one lakh taka on his arrest in Bangladesh. After getting bail from the court he entered in India illegally and was living in India since 2010. He is involved in many heinous cases in Bangladesh," the NDTV quoted police as saying.
Additional commissioner (Crime) of Delhi Police Shibesh Singh confirmed the arrest and said the high commission of Bangladesh has been contacted for the further process of deporting Masoom.
However, The Times of India quoted an unnamed source as saying that, Masoom may have committed another murder in India.
Masoom was sentenced to death in Bangladesh for kidnapping and robbery with the murder of a store owner in Bagerhat.
According to a local media report, Masoom didn't stop his criminal activities even after entering India. He allegedly took control of the business of a man who helped him hide in Bengaluru.
His businessman friend is missing since 2010. After the man went missing, Masoom allegedly established physical relationship with the friend's wife and lived with her.
A case has been registered against him under India’s Arms Act and Foreigners Act.
