Both leaders have wished for peace, prosperity, and progress for citizens of their countries
Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for sending medical equipment and relief amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Solih expressed his gratitude during a phone call he made to the premier at 11am on Wednesday, a press release signed by the prime minister’s press secretary said.
At the time, both leaders wished for peace, prosperity, and progress for citizens of both the countries.
They hoped that both countries will be there for each other in times of need.
On Monday, 71 Maldivian nationals returned to their country by an aircraft of Bangladesh Air Force amid the global coronavirus crisis.
A 10-member medical team also took the flight to Maldives in order to provide coronavirus-related medical care to Bangladeshi nationals residing in the country.
On April 13, a letter was sent to the Department of Disaster Management mentioning the allocation of relief supplies to the countrymen in the Maldives.
The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief took the initiative to send around 40 tons of rice, 10 tons of potatoes, sweet potatoes, and lentils each, and 5 tons of onions, eggs and vegetables for countrymen residing in Maldives.
