Elections to the West Tripura constituency would be held on April 11 and East Tripura constituency on April 18.

Tripura’s opposition, the CPI-(M)-led Left Front, declared its candidates for the Northeast Indian state’s two seats on Tuesday as the preparations get intense for India’s ensuing Lok Sabha (lower house of India's bicameral parliament) elections.

Speaking to reporters at its party headquarters in Agartala Left Front Convener Bijan Dhar said: “The sitting candidates Sankar Prasad Datta for West Tripura constituency and Jitendra Chaudhury for East Tripura constituency have been re-nominated for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.”

Elections to the West Tripura constituency would be held on April 11 and East Tripura constituency on April 18.

Bijan Dhar added: “In the crucial elections for the 17th Lok Sabha, the Left Front is contesting the elections with three slogans: oust the Narendra Modi government to protect the country, increase Left Front parliamentarians and form a secular central government.”
