Zoramthanga takes oath as Mizoram CM

The MNF swept the Mizoram Legislative Assembly polls held on Nov 28

Mizo National Front (MNF) leader Zoramthanga on Saturday took oath as the chief minister of Mizoram at the Raj Bhavan in Aizawl which was administered by Governor Kummanam Rajasekharan.

The MNF swept the Mizoram Legislative Assembly polls held on Nov 28. The Assembly consists of overall 40 seats.

The results were declared in December 11. The MNF captured 26 seats and carried off the palm. It was followed by the Zoram Peoples’ Movement, an unregistered political party which bagged 8 seats.

The Congress managed to capture only 5 seats against 34 which it won in the 2013 Assembly elections. The BJP opened its account this time by managing to capture one seat in its kitty.

Zoramthanga was Chief Minister of Mizoram from 1998-2008.
