A huge fire broke out at a residential building in a posh residential area in Mumbai on Wednesday, ANI reported.

Firefighters are trying to douse the blaze that reportedly started on the top floor of the Beau Monde Towers in Worli area.

According to NDTV, Indian filmstar Deepika Padukone is among the residents of the building.

The fire has been contained to the 32nd and 33rd floors, according to a statement from the India’s financial district’s Fire and Emergency Services Department.

Around 90 people have been rescued from the building, Fire Services Chief P Rahangdale said. No casualties have been reported yet.

The fire has reportedly spread to another side of the building, according to Mumbai Mirror.

Local corporator Sena Kishori Pednekar alleged that the building security had tried to douse the fire on their own initially. It was only after they couldn’t manage to extinguish the fire, they alerted the fire department, she said.

A volunteer, Dilipa Yadav, told Firstpost that this was the third incident of fire at the building.

“The high-rise caught fire twice when it was under construction,” Yadav said.

Mumbai’s fire safety measures have been under the scanner since a massive fire killed 14 people in the city’s Kamala Mills compound in December last year.
