Tripura's chief minister praises PM Sheikh Hasina

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb praised Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during a cultural program, held to mark Bangladesh’s Independence Day, at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan on Monday. He said: “Prime Minister Shiekh Hasina is a mother-figure to me. Her mentality to serve the people inspires me immensely.” “My first encounter with Sheikh Hasina was as BJP’s state president. She has also invited me to pay [my first visit] to Bangladesh as chief minister.” Speaking on the camaraderie between India and Bangladesh, Biplab said: “Since the birth of Bangladesh, the Indo-Bangla relations have been very cordial. And it would be strengthened further.” He added: “I was born in November, 1971 on the soil of Bangladesh itself. That is why I was named ‘Biplab’ [literally means ‘revolution’ in English]. “I’ll take steps for cementing the Indo-Bangla amity further. The honourable prime minister [Sheikh Hasina] has assured me cooperation for the development of Tripura.” Biplab also put emphasis on enhancing commercial relations with Bangladesh during the event.
